ABOUT INDIGO ROOTS TEXTILES
Kristen Barnett is a textile artist from Greenville, South Carolina. Sitting at her grandmother and mother's feet, Kristen developed a love for textiles and design. She received her first sewing machine, a battery operated Holly Hobby machine, at the age of 4. Her love of hand dying started about the same age as she watched her eldest sister gather food waste (onion skins, beet skins) to dye cornhusks for corn husk dolls.
Hand dyeing fabric using USA regionally grown and processed indigo, locally foraged plants, flowers, and food waste, Kristen designs and creates functional art from these fabrics. Bringing beauty to the everyday!
