Hello, February!

Meet some of Charleston's most talented makers, artisans and designers!

In 2010, The Joggle Factory was founded with the mission of making our beloved joggling boards accessible, affordable, and maybe even for The Joggle Factory to become a household name across the nation.

Chris and Kristi share a passion for the outdoors, good conversation, and cold libations. After Chris "popped the question" in 2008, he knew the only gift for his girl was a joggling board, where they could sit outdoors and enjoy each other’s company. Rather than find a more attainable gift, he decided to put his woodworking skills to good use by designing and building a joggling board for his bride.

Once an entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur. Chris saw there was a larger need to build this Southern staple, not just for the affluent and the Charlestonians, but for everyone…and, thus, The Joggle Factory was born in March of 2010!

We grew up on the coast with roots reaching back as far as 14 generations. A passion for the water is ingrained in our DNA. As children, we spent our days on the rivers and beaches, cementing a lifelong bond to the coastal ecosystems we explored. At our core – we are fishermen, we are surfers, and we are river rats. But above all else, we are homegrown conservationists.

In our lifetime, we have witnessed the strain that explosive population growth and sprawl have had on fragile saltwater ecosystems with water quality as the prevailing issue. Water quality is the number one reason for fish mortality and declining populations across hundreds of marine species.

With so much at stake, we wanted to do something to give back. We wanted to look back on our lives and know that we left these environments that we love in a better place than when we found them. So, we started a company that devotes its success to improving water quality by rebuilding new filter feeding oyster beds. By repeating and expanding this process through our Put ‘Em Back™ movement, we are working towards healthier coastlines nationwide.

Carrie Bailey Morey in the Kitchen with Her Daughter

Carrie Morey founded her handmade biscuit business in 2005 as Callie’s Charleston Biscuits. Her goal was to make the tender, buttery, made-by-hand biscuits of her mother accessible across the country. Over 15 years later, Callie’s goes by a new name, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, and is widely recognized as an iconic Southern brand with national retail exposure and a cult-like following.

Carrie authored Callie’s Biscuits and Southern Traditions, a cookbook and narrative on entrepreneurship and life in the Lowcountry. Carrie has appeared live on the NBC Today Show, The Martha Stewart Show, Fox & Friends, The Hallmark Channel, Top Chef and QVC and has been profiled numerous times by The Food Network and Cooking Channel.

The story of Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Pâtissier is, above all else, a story of love. A story that, at its core, is about one man's love for sharing his creations with others and his dedication to his French origins.

Christophe Paume is the rarest of artisans, a third-generation French chocolatier, who grew up in his father's pâtisserie in Toulouse, France. Alongside his father, he learned to create exquisite French pastry, the highest quality chocolates, succulent gelato, and every type of bread imaginable.

After attending the CFA de Muret, Christophe moved to Paris and worked at Entremet de France, refining his hand-painted, one-of-a-kind creations of dark, white, and milk chocolate ganache and chocolate truffles. For the next ten years, he continued to work in the family business and traveled to Montreal to work at Pâtisserie de Gascogne. He also achieved his Brevet de Maitrise, Master in Pastry.

While it was his passion for fine chocolate that brought him to the United States, it was love that kept him here. In 2009, he married Carly, a sales rep for the same chocolate company he worked for, and they formed Christophe Artisan Chocolatier-Pâtissier.

Woodworking has always been a passion for Shane, learning the basic skills from his grandfather and growing from there. He's the talent in the woodshop and his wife, Katie, (me), handles all things marketing and design behind the screen.

Shane has always been handy around the house and his "honey-do list" was continuously growing. One thing led to another and our garage-born brain child grew into a reality, allowing us to spend more time together doing what we each love, in one combined business.
